Our History

In 1972 the partnership of CJ & KA Royans was formed and later, Hot Dog Fisheries Pty Ltd was registered, named after an early boat 'hot dog'.

Chris gave up diving in 1984 and now leases his abalone license to his son who is a certified diver.

From 1984 to 1994 hot dog fisheries supplied abalone to local exporters. Since 1994 and until 1997 they had their abalone processed by contract but exported the end product.

In 1997 hot dog fisheries purchased a fish processing plant at Cape Jervis and renovated the property bringing it up to export standard. On completion of the renovations they began processing IQF abalone at the new plant.

Hot dog fisheries still use a local contract processor for their canned and heat sterilized pouches.
